The American Pillar
The American Pillar - Thuja Arborvitae
The New, Narrow and Natural Screen of Choice!
The American Pillar has no equal for screening homes or entire subdivisions
from the noise of busy streets without spreading wide and eating up valuable
space, walkways and driveways. It cost less overall than a wood fence or any
other tall plant screening. Then let's consider the beauty of an "American Pillar"
screen! *Many board fences are in need of replacement or of continued costly
maintenance during a ten year period.
Introducing the new American Pillar arborvitae

► Fast growing (3-4’ per year after 1st year planted)

► Little need to spray, trim, or shape
► Natures answer to noise and visual pollution
► Transplants easily.
► More economical than many board fences
► Perfect for screening in limited spaces
► Terrific as an ornamental

The American Pillar arborvitae (the original sport* shown at the left), grew to 21 feet
tall and only 4 feet wide in 7 years from an 18” plant in a field of 500 ordinary Thuja
Arborvitae.* A sport in botanical Terms, is a plant that because of a mix-up of its genes
or similar accident is significantly different than its parent. Most of the better cultivars
of our better ornamental shrubs, trees, fruits, etc. originated as sports that were
significantly better than the parent that the owner was granted a U.S. patent. The
“American Pillar” is the result of one such beneficial event. Our U.S. Plant Patent is #
USPP20,209 P2.

The American Pillar - Thuja Arborvitae
The New, Narrow and Natural Screen of Choice!

Only 4 feet wide when mature
Zones 3 to 8 very cold hardy!
“This particular arborvitae [‘American Pillar’] will withstand
extremes of heat, cold, and moisture, making it a candidate for
home landscapes, and screening situations in most of the lower
forty-eight states.  Other plants commonly used for screening
purposes, such as hemlock and pine, have diseases that are
depleting their usefulness.  Leland cypress is being attacked by
the lethal Cercospora needle blight which is now widespread
across the South and East.  The American Pillar Nursery is
positioned to fill the demand for a better, disease-resistant
replacement plant.”

This tree truly is a SPACE - SAVER, saves you 3 to 5 feet
more yard space than other evergreen trees!
