Thuja Gardens   -    Bareroot Apple Trees
We grow apple trees that are not only popular varieties, they are very hardy, and easy to grow in
your backyard. Fuji, Gala, and Granny Smith in that order are the best sellers by far. Plant one of
these trees instead of making trips to the grocery store. Grow bushels of healthy, flavorful apples
that can be eaten fresh off the tree, stored for later, or used for cooking.

All Apples are not Created Equal

The way our apples have been bred, grown, and stored has a big impact on the health benefits they can deliver. An apple a day,
as the saying goes, has long been known as the cure for what ails us. But there has been studies done where apple-eaters actually
had higher levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides at the end of the study.

The explanation was the kind of apples used, some apples are less healthy than others. Many varieties have high levels of sugar
and few antioxidants, Yes, they’re still better than a candy bar – but not by much.

We grow some of the healthiest apples available. All apples store well and commercial growers especially know how to keep them
crisp, but the ones that are fresh-picked off your tree will always have more antioxidants than ones that have been stored. The
skin of an apple has 90% of the pesticides, but 50% of the nutrients, which is why apples are the one fruit you should always grow
organic and never bother to peel.

One of the most nutritious common apples, a Granny Smith apple has 13 times more phytonutrients than other apples. The sweet-
tart Honeycrisp apple that everyone loves is one of the most phytonutrient-rich varieties. Since 50% of the nutrients is in the skin,
grow full organic.
